• I love under the sea pictures. You can let your imagination really go crazy ( not that you can’t with other pictures ). These don’t get too bogged down with detail, nor are they too simple. Although there ARE a few fairly simple pictures in case a child in your life would like to join you or you just feel like a more simplistic design that day. But even they are well done. I’m really enjoying listening to music and coloring again. I find it theraputic. If I really love a picture I’ve done, there are apps where you can transfer them onto mugs, pillows, T-Shirts, etc. I highly reccomend this as an activity...AND ...THIS coloring book! 🐢🐙🥽💫💫💫💫💫

• Great book. In exellent shape.
• The book takes the reader from BC to a near current status of dental practice with a focus on the split from strict medicine in education. Unlike most nonfiction, the voice of the author is clear and tells a true, interesting story. This doesn't read like a text book, rather it reminds me of a fascinating documentary with necessary but not cumbersome detail. Thoroughly referenced and nicely illustrated, it's a keeper. Great for the dental student, practitioner, and more importantly, the lover of history .

• Richard Shankman's Art and Skill of Buddhist Meditation is part of an emerging trend in Buddhist meditation in the West that presents an integrated path of meditation practice, one that brings together mindfulness, deep meditative stillness (samadhi, sometimes translated as "concentration"), and liberating insight. In many practice traditions in both East and West, these three currents have become separated into schools or traditions, each of them often segregated from the others. In this volume of practical guidance, Shankman succeeds at reintegrating the Buddha's path of practice in a way that can benefit meditators at all stages of development.
  
  The book is written in an easy and personable style that captures Shankman's spoken voice and conveys his special approach to one-on-one and group coaching of meditators. Shankman reveals himself here to be a gentle and attentive guide, one very attuned to the great variety of individual experience in meditation. He provides knowledgeable support for many different ways of meditating, with a consistent emphasis on finding the integrated practice that works for you and on doing "the best you can" in all circumstances.
  
  Throughout the book, Shankman takes the view from inside the meditating mind—an unusual perspective in a field of books that tend to focus on concepts and descriptions from the outside. Shankman's perspective makes his book invaluable for understanding the full array of experiences that can arise in meditation, how to make sense of them, and how to work productively when they arise. Shankman is also one of the very few authors brave enough to actually talk about what samadhi (and the associated jhana states) actually feel and look like; in doing so, he demystifies and normalizes experiences that have all too often been made out to be rare, rarified, and hush-hush. Doing so is important because, as Shankman shows, the collected and still mind, a natural capacity of mind that we all share, is a rich field for deep insight.
  
  The book is refreshingly free of jargon and adroitly sidesteps the tendentiousness and rancor that have sometimes characterized discussions of the various currents of practice that are skillfully blended here. Shankman doesn't explore the fascinating history of how the integrated path of practice laid out in the Pali canon, the earliest record of the Buddhist teachings, became divided into separate practices in 19th-century Burma and the 20th-century West. But that history is now well covered elsewhere Shankman keeps the focus on the practical issues that confront meditators in daily practice.
  
  I highly recommend this book to all meditators, but particularly to those who find themselves confused by the varied, sometimes conflicting, instructions or guidance that they have received from teachers about the importance of focusing on mindfulness to the exclusion of samadhi, samadhi to the exclusion of mindfulness, or insight to the exclusion of both. This book can truly help you bypass all that unnecessary "thicket of views" and deepen your meditation practice in an integrated way that suits your temperament and the realities of your daily life.
• One of the best guides to meditation I've ever read, but prospective buyers of the book in format should be aware that the formatting leaves a great deal to be desired. There's no table of contents, no index - just one long chapter. 5 starts for the content, 1 star for the format. Buy the paperback!
• With impressive clarity and precision, Richard Shankman has managed to express in words the wide range of deeply nuanced and subtle meditative experiences that characterize the path that progresses from beginning meditation to highly advanced states of concentration. He successfully avoids jargon and scriptural verbiage that may be intimidating to the beginning meditator or the practitioner outside Theravada Buddhist tradition. He provides helpful, specific instructions on how to fine tune the meditation as it deepens, and how to address specific obstacles that arise. Importantly, throughout the book he returns to the essential goal of meditation practice to deepen our ability to see where we are clinging and creating our own suffering and to develop the skills and abilities required to live life from a place of non-reactivity, with a wise and open heart. What stands out is Shankman's obvious compassion for his readers and his understanding of how hard this practice can be. There is essential dharma in this book.
• GOOD READ MUST HAVE
• If you want an open-minded, very thorough book of quality -- this is the one. You will know the path and the way.
• Richard Shankman's book is excellent for beginners as well as established meditators. The chapters cover beginning meditation instructions through mindfulness, concentration and insight. His writing is concise, accessible and very practical. I highly recommend this book.
• This book belongs to a new genre of meditation books that present the theory and practice of Buddhist meditation without the esoteric and confusing language found in meditation books.
  
  In the 1960's and 70's many meditators in the west migrated to the East seeking spiritual enlightenment, the ones that were enlightened realized the true essence of the matter without the esoteric fluff.
  
  This master is one of them, he summarized it and kept the the essence only.
• He gives good directions to meditators, but nothing special.

• I just loved At the River's Edge. I have read all the books in the Chesapeake Diaries. This I another great story. A two-timing boyfriend has Sophie Enright re-evaluating what she wants to do with her life. She goes to visit her brother. While visiting her brother she meets Jason Bowers a new resident of St. Denis. She decides to quit her old job and become part of Enright and Enright attorneys at law her familiy's law firm. She also decides her true passion is cooking and decides to open a restaurant. Jason is a landscaper. There dreams conflict with one another. You have to read this to see what happens.
• I have read all of Mariah's "The Chesapeake Diaries" and I love the setting (the Eastern Shore of MD). The quaint little town with it's inhabitants and their ancestors that have spanned centuries. And they all have a story to tell from the worlds first super model to the old time renowned actress, and her niece who is the presently the biggest name in Hollywood and Mariah weaves the interlinked characters flawlessly, Most have had a life elsewhere and have come back to their roots for refuge and always reconnect. It's a town I'd like to live in and people I would like to know. It melds the older generation with the young townspeople flawlessly and mixes in a little of the occult in a way that is not offensive even to a Christian like myself
• I keep returning to the Chesapeake Diaries and others of Mariah Stewart's works. This is very unusual for me, as I am a thriller gal. But, in reading this author, I have found a desire in me to return to a place where everyone knows each others names...and where all paths cross, intersect, and drift in another direction. All are linked beautifully together inside the diary of a character named Grace.
  
  You find the blending of generations, and the history of a town, that invariably makes you want to return, over and over again. I also was delighted that the recipe's spoken of in the book are added at the end ) I'm sure I will find myself making one or two and smiling as I serve them.
• I had never read Mariah Stewart's books until one day when I was craving something to read. That's when a new favorite author was added to my list. I have read all the Chesapeake series including At River's Edge.
  These books are wonderful. I love the characters and the home town feel of the story line. If you want to take a break and relax, do it with this author. She has a great writing style with realistic characters; the story moves at a soothing pace with nothing boring here. Single young women ban together to help each other realize their dreams and the men they have loved, some since childhood. The word HOME is in the title of the first 7 books. The series continue with
  RIVER"S EDGE but it is a continuation in the Chesapeake series.
  How soon is her next 'River's Edge' coming out? I want it and I'm greedy--I WANT IT NOW! I'm suffering from Stewart withdraw
• This is one of a series, all of which are very good reads. Most a well-written, but my version was full of typos (from the scanning process?) and, occasionally, odd punctuation. That's a technical issue. The books themselves feature well-developed characters who appear in several of the books, creating continuity. You will hate it when you get to the last book in the series because you'll be hooked by then. I was.
• This is the first of this series I've read. This is a great read where Sophie comes to visit her brother Jess to heal her broken heart; Jason also came to make a fresh start after his brother Eric is killed in Iraq. The drama is that they both want the same piece of land but are half way to falling in love with each other. I love the little bit of supernatural overtones with Grace and her Quija board and Sophie's grandfather feeling like his deceased wife Rose is still around. Such a cute story with a sweet ending. Looking forward to reading Jess and Brooke's story (Brooke is Eric's widow with her 8 yr old son). diamondgirl
• I loved the story. It did move slow at times because of to much description of places or things. I enjoyed all the characters and purchased the book because this was next in the series. I have all the books and will purchase the next one. I gave it a five star rating because I believe it is one that is deserved. I just hope that the next book in the series can be pre-ordered on the very soon.
• I enjoyed this story and plan to continue with the other titles in this series. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

• This the first book I have read from MJ. I was totally hooked from the beginning. I love an author who's storyline takes on a crazy ride. I have to say that every time I took a right turn the storyline to a left. There were times when I really wanted to smack Kyla and Echo. But I don't think the storyline line would have been as good if the characters were different. I would definitely recommend this book.
• I hope MJ writes more! I have read both book & by a total of three times. Yes, I can say I got wrapped up in, what I call, a mystery, ends up a murder mystery. I wanted to kick both their butts, Kyla & Echo. Both could be pig headed and needed to be up front and honest, but then there went part of the book. Then you had, whew, get me a fan, Jenny stirring the pot. The story is so far from what it seems and but there just has to be love...There always has to be.
• This was a good book but it was too short. I wanted the story to last longer.
• Love this book. Author MJ knows how to capture your imagination. She has a vision for fun, teasing, and delightful entertainment. Run and buy this book!
• This is Ms Williamz’s debut novel. It was riveting and amazing and left me saying OMG more than once. It truly was a thriller and even near the end I still \wasn’t sure who the bad “guy” was.
  
  I loved the relationship between Echo and Kyla. There was a big secret going on between the two of them (in addition to the other mysteries going on) that just left too many ideas and possibilities open. I believed in Echo’s innocence but because the book was so twisty turny tummy hurty (in the way a great suspense is likely to do), I wouldn’t have been surprised if the male cop did it! Oh My Gosh, do yourself a favour and read it!!!!
• This first book by MJ Williamz was a little difficult to truly enjoy. I actually would give it 3.5 stars, but that rounds up to 4. The book description here is pretty good, so I won't spend time rehashing the details of the story. I think the author shows promise, but didn't come out of the proverbial gate with a clear winner. The characters are not very well developed. Kyla seems to be the most three-dimensional character, but she still seems to lack something. Echo is merely brushed over and the supporting cast is shallow.
  
  I don't mean to paint a dire picture. Even though the characters are anemic, the premise is quite good and the story is well told. The author has enough talent to pull off a comfortable final product. Hopefully, with time, she'll further develop her skills and eventually write a book I'll keep permanently on my shelf.
  
  Bottom line - Not a stellar offering, but a solid read.
